    Description

Frohman, Charles. The Maude Adams Book. New York: Published by Charles Frohman, Empire Theatre, New York, 1909. With ca. 20 pages of tipped-in illustrations.
Condition: Large brown paper covers with string-tied binding. Measures 12.5 inches high by 10 inches wide. Some wear to the edges of the paper. There is one tear of a couple of inches along the top of the string-tie, but the covers are firmly attached and the tear doesn't affect the integrity of the binding. The front cover has a crease where it has been opened, but it is not brittle and could be preserved by handling with care.
This is an extraordinary early American entertainment imprint. The book consists of about 20 pages of publicity photos showing Maude Adams in various roles on Broadway and other theater productions. These include two still photos of her playing the part of Peter Pan on Broadway.
One of the pages featrues a reprinted program from Harvard University from June 3 and 4, 1908, where she played the part of Viola in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night". I could not find any sales or auction information on this book. It is undoubtedly rare.
